SaD 05, 06 and 07
Been a bit late. It was a CRAZY week. Really.
Here are some sketches of Corben and Octia, the main two protagonists of my new story. I did these on Monday.
They reflect a bold new direction for my style of choice.
The poses I referenced are from Ben Caldwell's tutorials. He is a GENIUS. If I ever make a full product in some shape or form, I will be thanking him somehow for giving me inspiration and guidance.

Work flyers
I thought that I'd show off a bit and display some of the last minute layouts I did for some flyers at work. Keep in mind that I was not responsible for the content (or its length). I had to rush these, and some of you may notice a few "borrowed" elements.
For example, the first one is based off a Saul Bass print.

Sketch of the Day (SaD) 04
Just another quickie. It's not that bad, but not all that great either. I look forward to cleaning this one up and polishing the concept.

Sketch of the Day (SaD) 03
Heya folks,
Didn't really have time to prepare a whole new sketch yesterday, so here's one that I cleaned up a bit last week (the original was never posted here).
So yeah I'm cheating a bit. Sorry.

Sketch of the Day (SaD) 02
Here's another one! So far so good. I did this last night while watching Predator 2.
It sure isn't perfect, and I don't like it as much as SaD 01, but it has it's charm.
Note that that all of these will be improved and polished (ie- the blasted ANATOMY and PROPORTIONS, which currently are sloppy and lazy). Right now, I just want to churn out as many of these as possible without dwelling too long on any one in particular.
My plan is to "fix" one of them each weekend. Perhaps even color one.
Anyway, here she is!

Sketch of the Day (SaD) 01
I'm going to make a huge effort to do a single sketch every day. Very difficult, but I want to impress myself for once.
I find the acronym "SaD" to be funny and a little ironic because I feel quite the contrary about my sudden enthusiasm to draw again.
So here we are, my first SaD:

Medieval children's sketches
Kids have always scribbled the equivalent of Tie Fighters and tanks in their school notebooks. One example of this is the remains of the doodles of Onfirm, a young Russian boy living in Novgorod around the 13th century:

quote:
Onfim was being taught to write, but he was obviously restless with his lessons and when he could get away with it, he intermixed his assignments with doodlings. In this first example, he started to write out the first eleven letters of the alphabet in the upper right corner, but got bored and drew a picture of himself as a grown-up warrior impaling an enemy with his spear. To remove any doubt about the identity of the warrior, he even labeled the person on the horse as "Onfim." Fantasies of becoming a mighty warrior were not the only things that Onfim thought up though. In another example, he took the piece of bark that he was practicing on, turned it over, and drew a picture of himself disguised as a wild beast (which he identified by writing "I am a wild beast" [Ia zver'] over it). The beast, with its long tongue (or fiery breath), is apparently still a friendly beast as it is carrying a sign that reads "Greetings from Onfim to Danilo" [Poklon ot Onfima ko Danile]. Danilo was probably a friend, perhaps even a schoolmate sitting next to Onfim. In still other drawings, Onfim draws warriors in armor, fierce battle scenes, and children playing around a tree. (2)
